FreeTV
streaming service tudum animation
Client
FreeTV is a streaming service that offers a premium selection of global scripted series, movies and miniseries. The service has an attractive and rich offer of 52 channels including the main Israeli channels, sports channels, movie and series channels, children's channels, entertainment channels and a huge VOD library.
Product
Together with Plusdrie we have created a tudum (mnemonic as it is technically categorized) for FreeTV. A tudum is the intro used in the app when the user starts streaming content. It is the first footage and sound that the viewer sees and hears and should therefore make the viewer enthusiastic about the content.
The goal
The tudum is used on different platforms and therefore had to work for different ratios. The FreeTV logo was known with a connecting element (a line) that was already used on and over shot content. This recognizable element had to be reflected in the tudum. It had to be recognizable and fit with the transition to any type of content and branding.
Our solution
We have created a 6-second tudum in total that consists of 2 parts, in a portrait and landscape variant, making it multi-platform. The connecting element, the line, animates the entire logo. This gives the whole a dynamic, magical, exciting and aesthetic feeling.
Final result
Since it is only 6 seconds in total, it was important that every frame is perfect. That is why the concept phase in this project was of great importance. Developing the right concept and developing it from 3d to 2d to 3d while it should not be visible was the biggest challenge.
process
When we work on abstract animation we often look for physical analogies. References that clarify the feeling we want to convey. For example, we quickly associate a bounce with mass and elasticity. If we can see it, we are more likely to feel and understand it. By using this in our animations, we make a fictional concept more valuable.
