Kalpana Systems is a leading manufacturer of machines for the production process of Superspatial ALD, focused on driving innovation in the energy transition. The company aims to provide solutions that are both revolutionary and resource-efficient. Inspired by the spiral shapes found in nature, their thin film machine represents a breakthrough in the industry. Through their technological development, Kalpana Systems makes Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) industrially feasible without significant limitations. Their vision is to inspire researchers and product designers to collaborate and develop new innovations with the precision of a single atom!

Product

Kalpana Systems has developed an advanced machine using Superspatial ALD technology, offering superior throughput and uptime compared to existing alternatives. Atomic Layer Deposition is a technology that provides excellent conformity, density, and stoichiometry of coatings, while the product remains at atmospheric pressure and low temperature. This technology enables the coating of a wide range of products with various materials. Kalpana Systems uses their Superspatial ALD technology to enable mass production of thin film layers, making the use of this technology much more attractive for different industries.

The goal

The goal of this project was to introduce the innovative Superspatial ALD technology and communicate its value to potential customers and partners. The animation we developed focuses on showcasing the application possibilities of this technology, such as fast-charging batteries, rollable OLED screens, and flexible solar panels. These applications are achievable in the short term and can be produced on a large scale, offering new opportunities for innovation.

Our solution

The solution consisted of a full-length animation that leveraged transparency in design and effective storytelling. The viewer is taken to the atomic level to explain the fundamentals of ALD and spatial ALD, followed by the combined Superspatial ALD solution. The visuals helped develop a new branding style for the website, featuring a high-tech look for the machine and a softer, more sustainable appearance for the products. A comprehensive set of assets was created to illustrate the process, the technology, and the added value.

The project resulted in a completely new look and feel for Kalpana Systems. The company and the system adopted a more accessible and open character, making it easier to understand how it works. The animation gives the solution and the Kalpana Systems brand a recognizable identity.

During the project, we closely collaborated with Kalpana to create a visually appealing and informative animation. With input from Kalpana, we developed a mix of look & feel and storytelling that aligns with their brand identity. We also studied the operation of the prototype in their high-tech development facility to gain a deeper understanding of the technology.

outcomes

The animation and the new website content have been very well received and have garnered a lot of positive feedback. The complete package of assets, including animations and 4K stills, supports Kalpana in their communication and marketing efforts. This led to a great collaboration between Kalpana and our team, resulting in an animation that we are all proud of, both technically and visually!
