Westfalia Fruit, recognized as the Avocado experts, is a leading multinational supplier of fresh fruit and related products to international markets. With their vertically integrated supply chain, they grow, ripen, pack, process and market quality avocados and complementary products throughout the year and around the world.

Product

Sustainability has been at the heart of Westfalia Fruit’s mission from its inception in 1949 and is encapsulated in the motto of its founder Dr Hans Merensky, ‘To Do Good’. By conducting extensive and continuous research, Westfalia Fruit is working on sustainable avocado cultivation for now and in the future. By focusing on water usage, environmental management, disease control, and genetic efficiency.

The goal

Westfalia Fruit has the largest privately funded avocado research centre, investing in the future. New outcomes of research can take decades, so Westfalia Fruit wanted to show their stakeholders what they are working on. They therefore set the goal of developing an experience to show what is coming for the entire avocado industry through Westfalia Fruit's research work.

Our solution

In collaboration with Westfalia Fruit we created a storyline and animated content for a VR experience animation about the orchard of the future. It needed to be an immersive journey to the year 2049. Highlighting the groundbreaking innovations of Westfalia Fruit's research team in shaping the future of the industry. By converting the different topics to a convincing visual concept combined with the right storytelling.

final result

The VR experience has become a unique, custom-made journey. It takes you to the orchards of the future, making you feel as if you're truly walking through them. This fully immersive 360° world, combined with spatial sound, seamlessly guides you through the story.

But to experience it at its absolute best, you need to see it with a VR headset and spatial audio. So, book an appointment and come see it for yourself!

process

We ensured that the environment was not recognizable as a specific location. It was also important to accurately visualize organic elements such as the modeling of the specific avocado variety and tree, their growth, and the effects of wind and rain simulations. Through brainstorming sessions with Westfalia Fruit specialists, extensive research, and numerous tests, we achieved a final result we are proud of!

outcomes

The VR experience was received with great enthusiasm by both internal parties at Westfalia Fruit and their customers and consumers. At various conferences across Europe, such as the Fruit Logistica in Berlin, the Fruit Attraction in Madrid and the IFPA Global Show in Anaheim, California, visitors expressed how impressed they were. Additionally, Westfalia Fruit showcased the experience to interested parties during the Dutch state visit to South Africa and to the Dutch Minister of Agriculture. Currently, the experience is being displayed at multiple Westfalia Fruit locations worldwide.
